I thought this would be a great idea to give more of an insight into my role as Creative Director at Argent and the things I am inspired by.  This week, I am loving...layering. The key to successfully layering jewellery is to be individual, it should be part of your personality. It is not what you wear but how you wear it. By all means, wear a pearl necklace but drop a beloved pendant on a chain a couple of inches longer - a girlfriend of mind does just that but with a diamond catching the light below! The Winner! After reading through the hundreds of amazing entries that we received we arrived at three finalists.   However one entry stood head and shoulders above the rest. Sophie Leason from Cheshire came up with the wonderful idea of a Honey Bee design as a necklace. The Honey Bee has become endangered in recent years and the massive loss worldwide of the honey bee population is becoming ever more prominent and deserving of our attention. Sophie put it so well; “Bees are incredible! Their honeycomb is built in hexagons, perfect hexagons where all the sides are of equal length, it’s so precise, just like jewellery. A great jeweller has to be a great engineer and they have to know when they have perfected a piece, the bees have had their design perfected for thousands of years, but now they are disappearing from the world. A honey bee necklace would fit perfectly into your collection, bees are so small but they make a huge difference to the world, a beautiful difference.

It is hard to believe that Argent has had a presence for fifteen years at the Devonshire Park Eastbourne Ladies Tennis! (AEGON International Tennis Championships). We have enjoyed them all but yesterday was the sort of day that the enthusiastic tennis crowd dream of - a cloudless blue sky and exceptional tennis - especially given the awful summer we have had so far! The sun is peeping out from behind the clouds and it is definitely lighter later, which can only mean that spring is not too far away. Don't get me wrong, it is still pretty chilly but we have daffodils on the kitchen table which puts me in a spring-time mood. I have just returned to a very snowy UK from the very large Jewellery Fair at Vicenza in Italy!   Normally a source of inspiration but sadly not so this year.   Just as well that most of our beautiful pieces are created in our workshop in London and that we have plenty of ideas for 2013.   Lots of colour and also new designs to join our much loved pea pod and mussel shell in our 'nature collection'.  More news in February! We were lucky enough to spend new year in Switzerland with the bluest of skies and lots of snow! It was a great tonic after the hustle and bustle of the run up to Christmas which i'm pleased to say was our busiest ever.  Our favourite postman was laden down with sacks of parcels.  I hear that the snow is going to reach us at the weekend so if you're trapped inside why not browse online at our January Sale.  It is in full swing and there are some wonderful bargains to be had!
